The road will be closed from Harelaw roundabout to Craigenhill Road from today (Monday August 1) until Friday, August 5, for essential work.
The alternative route, which is signposted, will be via the A721, A73 and A706.
Chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Enterprise Services Committee, Councillor Chris Thompson, said: “These works are essential to carry out deep carriageway patching of the road at this location.
“Unfortunately it cannot be done without some disruption to road users and we apologise for that.
“We would advise people to avoid the area if at all possible, or if not to try and ensure they allow themselves extra time for their journey.”
