Cash flows in for Paws and Prosecco fundraiser

The fizz was in full flow at Parlands Country Club last Sunday as £2,800 was raised in aid of Canine Partners.

The Posh Paws ‘n’ Prosecco day was organised for the charity — which trains assistance dogs for people with disabilities — by local representatives Marjorie Johnston and Val Burns.

More than 170 people attended the Newton Mearns fundraiser, where they were treated to fizz and nibbles, a demonstration by Danny Gallagher and canine partner Heston, as well as an outdoor clothing fashion show and talk from Ivor Lough of Pets’n’Vets (sponsoring alongside Nicol Estate Agents).

Dale Gormley, community fundraiser for Scotland, commented: “This event was fantastic, raising both awareness and funds for Canine Partners.

“Marjorie and Val did an amazing job pulling it together, helped by many other willing supporters and stall holders.

“We also held a collection day at Braehead shopping centre last weekend, raising £535, so all in all it was a very successful weekend for Canine Partners.”

The charity is on the lookout for more volunteers, supporters and fundraisers — to find out more, call 0845 481 1915 or visit www.caninepartners.org.uk.
