Castlecary House Hotel is for sale

The Castlecary House Hotel has been put up for sale after more than 40 years being owned and run by the same man.

Proprietor Kenny McMillan has announced he is retiring and has put his business into the hands of estate agents Christie & Co.

He is believed to be asking for offers in the region of £1.5 million.

The hotel which lies in the shadows of the historic Castecary Arches has traditionally provided a welcome break for travellers seeking a rest stop on long journeys via the nearbly M80.

It has also been the location for countless wedding receptions and other functions for two generations.

With its 52 bedrooms and two popular lounge bars, the hotel also boasts a newly formed garden area, which often forms the backdrop to wedding photographs.

In addition the hotel boasts a number of modern detached buildings provide ‘cottage’ style letting.

Brian Sheldon who is handling the sale confirmed: “Sadly due to changing circumstances, Mr McMillan has decided to place the Castlecary House Hotel on the market and we are delighted to to have been appointed to sell such a great property and business.

“In recent times, we have seen an interest in Scotland as a hotel market.

“This now often comes from global investors who, post European Union referendum, see areas of the UK outside of London as more attractive.”
