Celebration year for church members

Members of Newton Mearns Parish Church have dedicated their 275th year celebrations to charity Mary’s Meals.

The church has raised an estimated £6,000, thanks to various organisations within — from monthly coffee mornings to pancake days, BB events and a Musical Morning courtesy of the choir as singing waiters and waitresses.

Cheryl Nixon told The Extra: “These mornings have become a must-attend occasion and have created great fellowship throughout the church and for the visitors who came along to support this very worthwhile cause.

“December sees the end of our celebrations with a very successful Christmas dinner and carol singing in The Avenue, to round off what has been a most successful year for the church and its
members.”
