Centre losing two stores

A SCOTTISH chain store which specialises in outdoor gear is to pull out of the Antonine Centre with the loss of approximately six jobs.

Tresspass which is based in Glasgow’s Kinning Park has confirmed that it is to shut its Cumbernauld operation - although mall bosses have stressed that the chain’s lease does not expire until October.

Meanwhile there has been another jobs blow at the mall.

It has emerged that chain Sports Direct will not move into the giant JJB Sports unit - which drew mammoth crowds last autumn as it sold off its stock in a buyout.

Sports Direct had stressed that 11 jobs would be spared thanks to the takeover - but centre bosses have admitted that the chain won’t be moving into the premises which lies next to Dunnes Stores.

Antonine Centre manager Karen Blair confirmed: “Our letting agents area actively looking for a new tenant.’’
