To finish this long-planned tour to the People’s Republic of China, the Brahms ‘German Requiem’ will be repeated in the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall on Friday, October 21 before the Chorus returns to Scotland.

The Chorus is taking some home grown and home trained talent with them in the shape of Charlotte (Charlie) Drummond, Soprano, and Paul Keohone, Baritone, who will perform in all three concerts.

In between concerts and rehearsals the Chorus will also do some sightseeing in the Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, the Great Wall, The Bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower.

The City of Glasgow Chorus is proud to represent its home city and to be able to share its talents on the international stage once again. This tour also gives the Chorus the opportunity to promote Scotland’s culture to an international audience, as well as giving tour members the chance to experience Chinese culture for themselves. They will be the first choral group from Scotland to visit China in such a high profile tour.

As well as some fundraising by tour members, the City of Glasgow Chorus is also grateful for the range of grants and sponsorship they’ve received.

The Chorus is now in its 33rd year.

Anne Taylor from Kirkintilloch, who is a Director of the City of Glasgow Chorus, is excited top be joining the tour.
