Church funds for repairs

A TOTAL of £4,000 has been granted by Newton Mearns south area forum to Mearns Kirch church cemetery in a bid to repair and upgrade the burial ground.

Over the past years the grave walls and headstones have become dangerous and unsafe but work will start in the future to carry out repairs in this centuries old cemetery.

Councillor McAlpine said: “Mearns Kirk Church is one of the oldest and attractive places of worship in East Renfrewshire.
