Church opens its doors to the public

Cadder Parish Church in Bishopbriggs is one of a number of historic buildings throwing open its doors to the public next month.

The church, which dates back to the 12th century, is taking part in the annual Scottish “Doors Open Days” event.

On Saturday, September 13, visitors can learn about the history of the church and the story behind its stunning stained glass windows at a special display and talk.

The event runs from 10am-4pm.

A spokesperson for East Dunbartonshire Leisureand Culture said: “The Scottish Doors Open Days event is now in its 23rd year.

“The idea behind it is to open up buildings that are normally closed to the public or usually have an
entrance charge.“

Doors Open Days is organised jointly by the Scottish Civic Trust with support from Historic Scotland

and Event Scotland.

Bishopbriggs Library is also taking part on the day, with a number of special drop-in activities, including a treasure hunt from 10am.
