Cineworld sets opening date for Silverburn

Cineworld has announced an opening date of June 26 for the long-awaited Silverburn branch.

The cinema coincides with a £20 million extension of the Pollok shopping centre, and will boast the first Superscreen - a wall to wall screen with dual projecters for brighter 3D films - in Scotland, as well as a Starbucks branch and Baskin Robbins counter.

Richard Henderson, general manager of the Silverburn Cineworld, commented: “We’re absolutely thrilled to unveil Scotland’s first ever Superscreen at our new cinema.

“With such an exciting line up of films this summer, we look forward to welcoming the community and sharing our passion for film with everyone in the area.”

The new addition will create more than 90 new jobs, with the number of Cineworld employees in Glasgow topping 330.
