The Colts set themselves up with an attacking formation filled with pace for the visit of the Fifers. Their first real chance came in the ninth minute, when Sarah Wardlaw struck a shot from the edge of the area that Walas tipped away for a corner.

From the resulting corner the Colts went one up. Young placed the ball dangerously into the visitors’ box where it was met by Porter who volleyed the home team ahead.

The Colts doubled their lead just after the half hour, when Rebecca Young showed some quick feet to feed the ball to Sarah Wardlaw. Wardlaw slipped her marker and passed to strike partner Fern who finished the excellent move.

After the break East Fife started quickly and got back into the match as a contest getting a goal back within two minutes of the restart. They then levelled on 65 minutes and caused problems for their hosts.

Within minutes of coming off the subs bench Simpson had given the home team the lead again as she finished a well worked move from the Colts left.

Rebecca Young found Frances Fern who took on the East Fife right back and crossed for Simpson to tuck away low giving the keeper no chance.

The Colts restored their two goal cushion again a further two minutes later. Simpson was the architect as she took the ball with her back to goal. Turning her defender she slotted through to Porter who coolly finished for her second of the match.

The Colts played out the remainder of the match comfortably after giving themselves the scare of letting East Fife back into the match.
