Come one, come all to Eid in Maxwell Park

A spokeswoman for The Ark, an umbrella enabling organisation, described the event as “a special way of engaging the people of Scotland regardless of faith with the aim of achieving a greater understanding of Islam and celebrating the unity and diversity of Muslim Scots as an integrated part of the national community.”

Or just a great way to enjoy a day out with friends and loved ones. Of course, there are giant adult-sized bouncy castles for big kids, too, at the Eid.

And it all kicks off on Sunday, July 28, from 11am-7pm.

#The Ark is a new community service with its centre planned for the southside of Glasgow, and is the brainchild of the organisation behind Radio Ramadhan, Scotland’s first Muslim and ethnic minority radio station.

Described as a media and enterprise hub, The Ark’s services will include media training and community events.

Although specifically aimed at Muslims, its services will be open to everyone from the local community.

Said The Ark’s Mobina Khan: “For Govanhill’s diverse communities, The Ark will open new doors and facilitate new services, including; media training, community radio, youth development skills, hot desk space, outreach programmes, exhibitions and coffee mornings.

By creating a new community space, the Ark will help motivate new social enterprise projects, while also increasing volunteering opportunities.”
