The advice includes indicators of concern for a child, what to do next and the dos and don’ts of listening to young people, as well as guidance on social media and photography.

Councillor Alan Lafferty, East Renfrewshire council’s convener for social work and health, explained: “Keeping children safe from harm depends on the knowledge, skills and confidence of those who work with children and families.

“The launch of this document offers all groups who hold activities for children and young people in our communities revised child protection guidance.

“It will help to ensure that children and young people are safe and protected from harm or abuse while undertaking activities that encourage them to develop and grow.”
