Nick Donald and his family, who live on Monteith Drive in Stamperland, were the victims of a recent arson attack.

The culprits set fire to Mr Donald’s wheelie bins and the resulting heat caused the tyres of their two vehicles to explode. The family lost both vehicles and the purpose built wheelie bin enclosure Mr Donald has built at the property.

Despite Police investigations the culprits have not yet been found.

Mr Donald has to pay for all of his vehicle and property insurance excess in order to replace the vehicle and damaged property.

Councillor David Macdonald has teamed up with Del Hillan of Sell & Swap Clarkston and Stephen McFadden of local taxi/private hire firm East Ren Taxis, to host a raffle to raise £1000 for the family.

Cllr Macdonald said: “I encourage you all to come together as a community send a strong message that we won’t tolerate this kind of activity and to make something great out of something very bad.”
