Volunteers from Cumbernauld Supporting Refugees will be on hand from 10am to 2pm to take quality winter items and footwear at Conodrrat Parish Church on Monday, February 20.
These will be handed over to Glasgow The Caring City who will take the winter warmers all the way to the Balkans. The charity recently collected four tonnes of goods in Kilsyth and hopes to up that total in Cumbernauld, as its vital supplies of clothing are starting to dwindle.
The charity’s Ross Galbraith has said: “We need to ask people to up their game so we can bring more supplies to Belgrade. These refugees aren’t really in camps at all. They are huddled in wastelands that used to be factories or engineering complexes.
“They are there with other people because of shared communality, shared language and because they have nowhere else to go. They have no real shelter there.
“They have nothing.”
For those unable to attend on Monday, these goods can be handed in to the constituency office of Jamie Hepburn MSP and MP Stuart McDonald at 13, The Wynd on weekdays.
