The exercise is part of a joint consultation between NHS Lanarkshire and Orbiston Pharmacy as it would like to apply to the health board to open a new pharmacy at 23 Lawmuir Road, which was formerly a hairdressers.

The new facility would offer a full range of NHS pharmaceutical services from 9am-6pm on week days and 9am-5pm on Saturdays.

Before an application can be made, regulations require that NHS Lanarkshire and Orbiston Pharmacy carry out a joint consultation to seek the views of local people.

The process is to understand whether they feel they already have adequate access to pharmacy services in the area and gauge the level of support for the proposal.

NHS Lanarkshire primary care services administration manager Gillian Forsyth, said: “This is only a proposal, however, we want to gauge how people feel about it and the survey will help us capture this.

“For example, people will be able to record whether they feel they already have adequate access to pharmacy services in the area or whether they feel there are gaps or deficiencies in services to the neighbourhood.

“The joint consultation is a very important part of the application process and we hope that you shall take time to participate. ”

All views submitted to the survey will be incorporated into a Consultation Analysis Report which will be taken into account by NHS Lanarkshire’s Pharmacy Practices Committee (PPC) which then decides the outcome of such applications.
