A lorry driver has been banned from the roads for 18 months after causing a five-vehicle crash in which seven people were hurt.

One man suffered serious injuries in the collision which happened on the M74 near Raith interchange.

Niall Love (52), of Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, was also fined £540 at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He admitted driving dangerously on the motorway in April 2014.

The court heard Love failed to keep a proper lookout and, with queuing traffic ahead, failed to slow down and stop in time.

His lorry crashed into a car which in turn careered into other vehicles. Six men and a woman were injured.
