Appeal for witnesses after serious assault in Motherwell

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault took place in Motherwell.

The incident happened on McClurg Court around 6.10pm on Friday, 8 May, 2020, when a disturbance took place outside a block of flats involving a bladed weapon. A 35-year-old man suffered a serious injury to his hand and was taken to Wishaw General Hospital.

Officers attended alongside the dog unit, firearms unit and police helicopter. A 30-year-old man was traced nearby on Airbles Farm Road and taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment. He has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Constable Jacqui McCann, of Wishaw CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who witnessed this or has any information relating to this incident to contact us.”

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3288 of 8 May or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
