Body found at Motherwell secondary grounds

Cleaners getting ready for their shift at Braidhurst High School found a body in the grounds on Monday morning (January 18)

The horrified staff raised the alarm and emergency services rushed to the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed: “Around 5.55am on Monday, 18 January, we received the report of concern for a man outside a premises on Dalriada Crescent in Motherwell.

“Emergency services attended and a 33-year-old man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service where he was pronounced dead.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

“As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

A spokesman for North Lanarkshire Council said: “We were able to transfer pupils of keyworkers to a nearby primary school to allow police to carry out their investigations.

“This is currently a police matter and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment.”
