Clyde mascot is stolen

Glasgow City Council has withdrawn 24 5ft fibreglass models of Games mascot Clyde away from public display, after one of the iconic figures was stolen from its plinth in Govan.

The theft has spoiled the plans of people aiming to “do the Clyde Trail” and visit all 25 figurines.

Meanwhile the QR code on some figurines was defaced, making it impossible for people to access an app showing the location of all the models on the Trail.

Clyde was designed by Cumbernauld schoolgirl Beth Gilmour (pictured).
