Lanark shop assistant robbed at knifepoint

The incident took place at McColls in Bannatyne Street at around 6.10am when a man threatened a female staff member with a kitchen knife and demanded money.

The suspect, who is described as approximately 6ft tall and wearin g dark clothing, made off with a three-figure sum and cigarettes.

The shop asistant was shocked, but unhurt.

DS Graeme Lawrence of Lanarkshire CID said :“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has information that will assist this investigation to contact us via 101, or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in c onfidence.”
