Man (35) arrested after tackling paramedics at Motherwell Station

Motherwell station was the scene of an arrest after a man allegedly lashed out at medical personnel who had been called in to assist him.

The highly charged incident took place around 12.30am on Saturday (October 31) amidst fears for the safety of the man who was thought to be under the influence.

Ambulance staff responded to a call for assistance and set about treating the man who is 35-years-old.

However, it is alleged that he became aggressive and assaulted the paramedics as they tried to administer treatment.

Police were duly called and the man made a run for it . Officers have confirmed that a search was quickly mounted and that the man was found a short distance away.

He was then arrested on charges of alleged assault.

A report on this incident has been sent to the procurator fiscal in Hamilton.
