Man (45) has been arrested with “culpable and reckless fireraising” in Kilsyth

A 45-year-old man has been arrested following a fire drama in in Kilsyth yesterday (January 21)Both the police and fire service rushed to a home in Rennie Road after the alarm was raised in the neighbourhood around 3.50pm.

An evacuation of nearby homes was quickly orchestrated while fire fighters brought the fire under control.

Enquiries then centred on who was allegedly responsible for the blaze - and a suspect was quickly identified.

Communities inspector Neil MacLeod confirmed: “Subsequent police enquiry has resulted in a 45 year old male being arrested and charged with culpable and reckless fireraising.

“Thankfully nobody was injured during the incident and all those initially evacuated have been allowed back into their homes.”

A report on this incident has now been sent to the procurator fiscal in Airdrie
