Man arrested in £500,000 drugs bust

Police Scotland has charged a man following the recovery of cocaine with a potential street value of £500,000 in Lanarkshire.

Reacting to intelligence, officers stopped a vehicle at around 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday), on the M74 near Lesmahagow.

A 57-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with drug offences and is due to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court.

Detective Superintendent Craig Willison said: “We will use all the tools available to us to disrupt the illegal supply of drugs in our communities and remove those involved from our streets.

“The public plays a vital role in helping us to do this and I would encourage anyone who has concerns or information relating to drug activity and those involved in cultivation and supply to get in touch.”
