Man attacked with metal pole in Darnley

Police are appealing for information following a disturbance in Darnley on Friday afternoon (June 22) in which a man suffered serious facial injuries.

Around 3pm, a man was in Waukglen Drive near to its junction with Waukglen Avenue, when a black coloured car, possibly and Audi A3, pulled up beside him.

The passenger of the car got out and seriously assaulted the man with a metal pole.

The driver of the car also got out the vehicle.

Following the incident both men returned to the car and drove off.

The suspect, armed with the pole, is white, with short receding hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top and black Lacoste tracksuit trousers.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he received treatment for serious facial injuries.

Door to door enquiries have been carried out and detectives are checking CCTV footage from in and around the area for any additional information.

Detective Constable Mark Hendry said: “We have yet to establish a motive for this attack and the man involved has sustained a serious facial injury.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch, any small piece of information regarding the suspects or the car could prove vital to our ongoing enquiries, helping us establish exactly what has happened and why.”
