Man in serious condition after attempted murder in Glasgow’s Southside

Detectives are appealing for information after a 35-year-old man was seriously assaulted in the Darnley area of Glasgow last night (Saturday, April 18).

Around 11.25pm, police were called to a report of a man found lying seriously injured in Glen Esk Drive after being attacked by three men.

Police attended and the injured 35-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is currently being treated for severe injuries to his arms and a head injury.

Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing.

Detective Sergeant Nick Gribben, of Helen Street Police Station, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this attempted murder, and trace whoever is responsible.

“House to house enquires are ongoing and we are checking CCTV from in and around the local area to gather more information for our investigation.

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this attack take place, or anyone who was driving in the area of Glen Esk Drive late on Saturday night who has dash-cam footage, as they may have information that will assist our inquiry.”
