More work vans targeted in Bishopbriggs, Lenzie and Bearsden

More work vans in Bishopbriggs have been targeted by thieves.

Police also said thefts from vehicles in Bearsden and Milngavie, and Lenzie are also giving cause for concern.

East Dunbartonshire Police tweeted this morning: “Because folk are staying in housebreakings are down but break-ins to works vans espec in Bishopbriggs, Bearsden & Milngavie in the early hours are up.

“We have ongoing actions to target these thieves. Help us by not leaving high value items in van and call if you see anything suspicious.

“Break-ins and attempts made to break into works vans at Viewfield Dr, Gleneagles Gdns, Sella Rd, Kirkstall Gdns in Bishopbriggs.

“An old silver Vauxhall Vectra is involved.

“Keep your eyes peeled and call us if you suspect anything is ongoing.”

The incident in Lenzie happened at Newton Road overnight on Friday, April 10.

A police spokesperson said: “East Dunbartonshire Police has received reports of vans broken into overnight between Friday, 10 and Saturday 11 April in Bishopbriggs and Lenzie. On each occasion a quantity of tools was stolen.

“While police enquiries are ongoing, we are also appealing for information from anyone who may have seen any unfamiliar vehicles or individuals acting suspiciously before or during these times.

“Any information can be reported via 101 for the attention of the Local Policing Team at Kirkintilloch or by contacting Crimestoppers.

“We would also encourage the public to consider removing tools or valuables from their vehicles and storing them in a secure location when not in use.”
