Motherwell men sparked mountain rescue mission and were fined for flouting lockdown

A trio of hillwalkers from Motherwell have been fined for breaching lockdown rules after getting lost on a mountain.

Shortly before going to press it emerged that the three, who are in their early 20s had to call police for help on Sunday (May 24) from Ben Arthur in Argyll -which is better known as The Cobbler.

Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team recovered the men -and police were waiting at the foot of the mountain to fine them.

This was the first callout that the team -who are all volunteers- had received since lockdown came into force
