Music teacher jailed for abusing pupils

The NSPCC has welcomed the news that a music teacher has been jailed for offences against two young girls.

William Wright, 78, has been jailed for four years for sexually abusing the pupils during his time as a music teacher at an East Renfrewshire school.

An NSPCC Scotland spokesman said: “As a music teacher, Wright was in a position of trust but he abused this appallingly to carry out offences against two young girls.

“Abuse ruins childhoods and Wright’s actions will have devastated his victims’ lives into adulthood.

“This case shows again that it is never too late for survivors to come forward and seek justice as well as to receive the help and support they need.
