Police investigate mobile phone thefts

Police Scotland is investigating after four youths had their mobile phones robbed from them in the southside of Glasgow in three separate incidents.

At around 3.30 pm on Monday, September 3 two boys, aged 11 and 15, were walking along James Gray Street when they were approached by a man who threatened them and took their mobile phones from them.

The second incident took place around 3.50 pm on Langside Avenue near to Tantallon Road where a 12 year-old boy also had his mobile phone taken from him in a similar attack.

The third incident took place around 3.55 pm on Langside Avenue near to The Ivory Hotel where a 14 year-old boy had his mobile phone taken.

The suspect for all three incidents is described as Asian, with a local accent, around 5ft-9 to 6ft, of slim to medium build.

He had facial stubble and was wearing dark coloured clothing and a black baseball cap.

Detective Sergeant Colin Kilgour, Divisional Robbery Unit, said: “Thankfully the victims were not physically hurt but this was still a terrifying experience and it is vital that we trace the individual responsible.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and perhaps witnessed any of the robberies, or seen a man matching the description.“If you know anything that can help us in our enquiries, please do come forward and contact us”
