Police seek masked cyclist after incident at canal path at Bishopbriggs

Police are seeking witnesses after an incident on the canal path at Bishopbriggs last night (Tuesday, May 19).

Officers have released a description of a man they wish to trace in connection with the incident around 6.05pm on the path near to the Leisuredrome Sports Centre at Balmuildy Road.

The man, who was on a bicycle, made off towards Bishopbriggs.

Police will only say enquiries are at an early stage and are not releasing any further information at the moment.

Detective Sergeant Juan Carlos Arias De Leon said: “Enquiries are at an early stage and we are carrying out enquiries in the immediate area.

“The man on the bicycle is described as being a white male, with fair/ginger hair, wearing a black mask with a skeleton design on it, black jacket with the hood up, black jogging bottoms and black shoes. He was riding a black coloured bicycle.

“I am also keen to speak to two youths, who are only described as being at there at the time in question.

“I would ask anyone who may have been in the area of the canal path near the sports centre around 6pm last night to get in touch with us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 2999 19 May 2020, if they saw or heard anything suspicious.

“Anyone who wishes to pass on any information and remain anonymous can do so though Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
