Police seek witnesses to Saturday night stabbing in Pollokshields

Police in Cathcart are urging anyone with information about a brutal stabbing in Pollokshields to help them snare the thugs responsible.

The victim was a rear seat passenger in a blue Mercedes heading west along Fotheringay Road on Saturday last week at around 9.30pm when a light-coloured car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf, approached from the opposite direction.

After an exchange of words between the men in both cars three men from the second car got out and launched an attack during which the 31-year-old victim was stabbed.

Two other men in the Mercedes with him were not injured.

While the suspects made off the wounded man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and later released.

The three suspects are described as being of Asian appearance.

Detective Constable Stuart MacLennan at Cathcart CID said:

“This incident occurred at a fairly busy time on a Saturday night and I appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Fotheringay Road at this time to think back to whether they saw the suspects getting out of their car and arguing with the occupants of the Mercedes car.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID at Cathcart Police office via 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where anonymity can be maintained.
