Police swoop on motorists in Motherwell and Bellshill

Police have arrested a number of motorists in recent days -including a 39-year old male in Motherwell’s Jerviston Street on Friday (September 25)

Officers stopped him around 9.30am in a move which led to the seizure of his vehicle and charged for alleged road traffic offences.

Bellshill’s West End Drive was the scene of another arrest after a 42-year-old male was stopped around 3.40pm on Saturday (September 26)

The driver was then arrested for alleged drink driving -and subsequent checks carried out by officers led to the motorist being cautioned and charged for numerous alleged road traffic offences.

Later at 8.30pm,police stopped a vehicle on Shields Court in Motherwell -and had to give chase when the driver made a run for it.

Officers caught him - then found the driver was allegedly disqualified and had no insurance.

The vehicle was subsequently seized.

Also within the vehicle was a quantity of white pills believed to be controlled drugs.

The 37 year old male driver was arrested and will be reported to the fiscal.
