Police warn about parking fine scam doing the rounds online
An email scam which is aimed at motorists has sparked a warning from police across Lanarkshire.
Officers have received numerous reports of a request for an outstanding payment for parking vehicles on a road where a charging scheme applies.
The email includes a link for payment of a fine.
It puports to be from the Home Office but this body is not of course responsible for any parking violations and the email is just a con.
A police spokesman advised our readers not to engage with the request adding: “In Scotland, only local authorities or private companies will issue parking charges.”
