Probe into prison death of Kirkintilloch mum’s accused killer

A probe into the prison death of a man accused of murder will take place next week.

Hugh Baird, 40, was found hanging in his cell at Glasgow’s Barlinnie prison in October 2018.

Baird was due to go on trial the following week accused of killing Jennifer Morgan, 33, in April 2018.

Baird allegedly stabbed the mum 27 times at her home in Kirkintilloch near Glasgow.

Miss Morgan’s body was later found by her 11-year-old daughter in the garden.

Procurator fiscal depute Richard Hill today (Tuesday) told a Fatal Accident Inquiry that the Crown were ready for the two-day hearing.
