Warning after bogus water workers target resident in Milngavie

Bogus workmen pretending to be with Scottish Water have been operating in the Milngavie area.

Police issued a warning after reports yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) of two males targeting a house in Lennox Avenue.

East Dunbartonshire Police tweeted: “We are investigating reports of 2 males pertaining to be from Scottish Water and asking to enter a resident’s house.

“Scottish Water have confirmed there are no workers in the East Dunbartonshire area.”

Operation Skipjack, a new team launched earlier this year to target doorstep crime and scams in East Dunbartonshire is still very much in operation during the pandemic, say police.

Anyone with any concerns over fraud or bogus workers should contact police on 101.
