One female member of staff was within the shop at the time and was confronted by the males.

The men then stole a safe, with what’s believed to be a four-figure sum of money within.

The member of staff did not sustain any injury, however, she has been left badly shaken by the experience.

Enquiries carried out so far have shown the suspects loaded the safe into a dark-coloured 4x4 car, driven by a fourth suspect, before making off in this car.

Forensic examination of the shop is being carried and officers will continue to review relevant CCTV footage from in and around the area for any additional information which could assist in their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Scott Wilson said: “I am appealing to members of the public, motorists and taxi-drivers who may have been in that area around the time of the incident.

“Did you see a dark coloured 4 x 4 car, did you notice the suspects – if you have dash cam, please check it as you may have captured an image which could assist us in our investigation.

“Any small piece of information could prove vital as we piece together what has happened.”
