Crisis and care grants available for those in need

An East Renfrewshire councillor has issued a call to those suffering hard times to get in touch for support.

Councillor McAlpine is raising awareness of crisis and community care grants .

Crisis grants help with essential living expenses when a disaster leaves a family’s health and safet in danger, while community care grants are available to those who choose to live independently rather than staying in care.

The corporate services convener said:” If you are going through tough times please do not feel you are alone.

“The council may be able to help by providing a crisis grant. Please phone 577 3475 and if you are eligible, staff will be able to arrange help within two days.

“You do not need to repay any grant which is intended to meet a one-off need.”
