A Cumbernauld schoolboy has been chosen to star in a highly prestigious production of Lord of the Flies at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal.

He is part of the Go Dance project led by dance legend Matthew Bourne.

The Millcroft Road lad has been attending rehearsals at the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow since March.

He is a pupil of Step by Step Dance School here in Cumbernauld and also attends the Glasgow-based Vivace Theatre School.

Scott’s ambition is to become a dance teacher.

And his mum Caroline, who is also Scott’s full time carer, could not be prouder.

She said: “Scott is autistic. He has been dancing since he was four.

“We thought that it might be good for his spatial awareness.

“It then turned out that he really loved it and wanted to keep doing it.

“Whatever Scott does he just gives it 110 per cent and he is always so happy. He just loves to entertain people”.

We’d like to wish Scott the very best of luck on his big stage debut!
