Cumbernauld, Kilsyth may be set for thousands of new homes

THOUSANDS more homes could potentially be built in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area if Scottish Government changes to the Local Plan prove to be successful.

The government has been contacting local residents and community councils to consult them on adding housing areas to the plan, the blueprint for local planning matters which was originally drawn up by North Lanarkshire Council.

A total of 39 sites across the area – potentially big enough to support an extra 10,000 homes – have been earmarked as possible locations for construction projects.

Now a local councillor, Jean Jones, has strongly urged residents to make their feelings known as soon as possible about so many extra houses perhaps being targeted for the area.
