Cumbernauld residents to get bottled water as water cutoff continues

Bottled water is being made available to the thousands of Cumbernauld residents affected by a burst water main which has caused chaos across town.

Engineers are still working to restore supplies to properties spread across Abronhill, Seafar, Carbrain and Kildrum.

Scottish Water staff have set up a collection point for bottled water at the Polygon UK plant in Cumbernauld Business Park which is located near to the amenity tip at Wardpark.

Meanwhile technical staff are using backfeeds to introduce water supplies from other parts of the network while the repairs get underway.

The incident has sparked localised disruption including the closure of Forrest Road. Rail services to Falkirk are currently unable to travel through stations in Cumbernauld.
