Dementia project meets gold standard

Folowing an unannounced inspection, the scheme was awarded top marks in quality of care and support, staffing, environment.

It was also graded excellent for quality of management and leadership.

The project offers 24 places per day in specifically adapted dementia day care facilities five days a week for people living in East Renfrewshire.

There, carer services are provided that include alternative therapy clinic, carers’ group meetings, monthly coffee mornings and education sessions.

The project welcomes volunteers from schools, colleges and Universities for annual placements where they are mentored by Project staff.

It is user led by a voluntary board of directors, the majority of which are or have been carers. Markina Murray, Managing Director, said: “ The Care Inspectorate award confirms our commitment to the highest standards for this community.

“We would like to thank the East Renfrewshire public who have contributed so much over the years through volunteering, fund raising and donations.

“This has, at all times, been used solely to enhance the quality of care provided to the clients and carers of this community.

“Also we would like to thank the council for their on-going support and their commitment to ensuring high standards of care for people with dementia.”
