Iris (96) and James, who
are both originally from Springburn, met and married during the dark days of the Second World War.

James was in the Royal Air Force and was allowed just four days leave from active service for his wedding.

The happy couple exchanged their vows at St James Episcopal Church in Springburn on August 30, 1941.

Two ministers were present at the wedding and Iris wore a simple white lace dress.

The couple settled in
Balornock after they wed before moving to Kirkintilloch.

They have two daughters Eileen and Iris, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
