Dickie Homes

The John Dickie group which had its headquarters in Giffnock and development sites in Shawlands and Patterton, has went into receivership.

The building firm, founded in 1880, was believed to have around 20 employees.

Ken Macintosh MSP was contacted by directors of Dickie to fight their corner with the Bank of Scotland.

He told The Extra: "The fact they (the bank) didn't make any attempt to save the housebuilder will not only impact Dickie employees, but also, many local contractors".

A spokesman for Dickie said: "We acted responsibly throughout the property boom, during which many housebuilders and property developers, fuelled by the bank as lender and investor, demonstrated extraordinary excess."

Blair Nimmo, of KPMG law firm, told The Extra: "I can confirm we have been appointed as receivers.

"No concrete decisions have been made as yet but we are looking into how to best realise the companies assets to maximise the benefit of all creditors".
