Disputed Lanark path is blocked again

THE contentious saga of the Delves Park path took a new twist this week when bollards went up blocking vehicles from using it.

Ownership of the path is disputed, with a landowner apparently intending to use it for construction access to a house site, but local people adamant that it is part of the Lanark park and a right of way.

The row erupted in June, with South Lanarkshire Council initially blocking off vehicle access with boulders, and then Councillor Ed Archer leading a protest walk along the path.

Now bollards are up, and the council is registering its claim to the land.

Ann Gee, Executive Director of Housing and Technical Resources told the Gazette: “Following detailed ownership investigations, the council has submitted an application for Registration of Title with the Keeper of the Registers of Scotland for Delves Park including the area of the track.”
