Do you recognise this duck, found in Biggar?

The Scottish SPCA is trying to find the owner of a Muscovy duck which landed in a garden in Biggar.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Tuesday (February 17) when a member of the public spotted the bird in her garden in McAlpine Avenue, Biggar.

The duck is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Hamilton, where he has been nicknamed Ash.

Animal Rescue Officer Stephanie McCrossan said, “Muscovy ducks aren’t good fliers so we don’t think Ash has travelled far from home.

“These birds aren’t native to Britain and Ash is very friendly and in good condition which suggests he’s been kept as a pet.

“It’s likely Ash has escaped and hopefully someone will recognise him so we can reunite him with his owner.

“If no-one comes forward for Ash we’ll find him a suitable new home.”
