The secret scourge of domestic absue was the subject of a special Information Day hosted by Police Scotland and invovling several agencies who also deal with the issue.

After declaring the event open, Claudia Beamish, MSP for South Scotland and Deputy Convenor of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Mens’ Violence against Women and Children, said: “This Information Day sends the message out to people in Clydesdale – ‘Never suffer in silence’.

“Listening to the many agencies present, I am keenly aware of the strong support and help available.

“Research from Women’s Aid found that a third of women polled would not know where to go to for help about domestic abuse. This event, in the heart of our community, helps point the way.”
