Don't be a litter lout in the great outdoors

A drive to make us all wombles and rid Scotland's first national park of litter has been welcomed by Zero Waste Scotland.

The ‘Respect Your Park’ Anti-Litter Campaign which was launched today (July 25) at the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and is a joint initiative with Forestry Enterprise and Police Scotland.

In response to this, Iain Gulland, chief executive of Zero Waste Scotland said: “The ‘Respect Your Park’ campaign being launched today is a terrific initiative. It reminds the park visitors of the importance of looking after our beautiful parks and public spaces by not littering, so that everyone can enjoy them.

“When it comes to tackling litter, our research shows that prevention is much better than cure. If everyone takes responsibility for binning, bagging or taking home rubbish, rather than just dropping it. It will be a huge boon to our economy and environment.”

Zero Waste Scotland exists to create a society where resources are valued and nothing is wasted. Its goal is to help Scotland realise the economic, environmental and social benefits of making best use of the world’s limited natural resources. It is funded to support delivery of the Scottish Government’s circular economy strategy.
