Don’t dump it . . . re-cycle it instead

Dumpit, a Clarkston based junk and waste disposal firm, and Corner Bikes, an independent bike shop in Shawlands, have teamed up to offer free bikes to local charitable groups in Glasgow’s Southside and East Renfrewshire area.

The bike recycling scheme, known as Rebyke, encourages local people to donate their unwanted bikes. The bikes are then made available to local charities and community groups. Bikes for all ages are welcome and should be delivered to Corner Bikes.

Rory Friel, owner of Dumpit, said: “In our line of work we come across a number of unwanted, re-usable goods, and where possible try to recycle and donate to charitable organisations. Unfortunately, with the volume of bikes increasing it’s difficult to manage and seems such a waste, especially at this time of the year. Launching Rebyke with Stephen was a complete no-brainer. Not only are we diverting bikes from the waste stream, we’re also giving local people a free bike.”

Bikes should be delivered to Corner Bikes, the scheme’s collection point. The team at Dumpit will store and deliver the bikes.
