The man was involved in a road accident on Lochlibo Road in Barrhead on April 16. According to police, he was breath tested and found to be five times over the legal limit.
Despite the incident, communities inspector Alan Dickson reports an overall drop in the number of drink drivers in East Renfrewshire.

He told The Extra: “The trend seems to be that since the new legislation has come in, we’re seeing less drink drivers. People are being more careful.
“There’s a hardcore contingent of people who do still drink and drive, but we will catch them.”
Inspector Dickson continued: “Don’t drink and drive — that’s the clear message.
Even one drink can put you over the limit, and there is no safe amount, so why take that chance?”
