Driver charged for Ayr Road hit and run

A 76-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit and run which made headlines last week.

The incident took place on Ayr Road in Newton Mearns last Monday (January 5) around 8am, and left a 14-year-old boy in need of surgery for a broken wrist.

Inspector Alan Dickson, of Giffnock police station, confirmed that a 76-year-old man has been charged and reported to the procurator fiscal, “as a direct result of coverage given to last week’s hit and run”.
